Program Synopsis
Biblical Foundations
Course 1: What we believe
This course introduces students to the Apostles’ Creed as one of the earliest summaries of Christian belief. Each lesson explores a core article of faith, grounding doctrinal statements in Scripture and tracing how the early church articulated its confession of God the Father, Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, the Trinity, the church and salvation. The course establishes a foundational framework for understanding historic Christian belief.
Course 2: Biblical Foundations
This course examines why Christian study both the Old and New Testaments and how Scripture presents a unified story centred on the Kingdom of God. Attention is given to divine covenants, the formation of the biblical cannon, and the relationship between the Old Covenant and the New Covenant. Students are encouraged to see the Bible as a coherent narrative of God's redemptive work.
Course 3: Old Testament Foundations
This course covers Genesis through Exodus, and it traces God's purposes from creation to the formation of Israel. Key themes include creation, the fall, covenant, promise, and deliverance. Through figures such as Abraham, Jacob, Joseph, and Moses, students explore how God works through history to bring about redemption.
Course 4: New Testament Foundations
This course introduces the four Gospels and the book of Acts, emphasizing the life, ministry, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, as well as the birth and expansion of the early church. Each Gospel is studied for its unique theological emphasis, while Acts highlights the continuing work of Christ through the Holy Spirit.
Course 5: Old Testament Studies
This course focuses on Israel’s life in the Promised Land, from Joshua’s leadership through to the rise of the monarchy. Students examine themes of covenant loyalty, leadership, kingship, and God's faithfulness despite human failure. Special attention is given to figures such as Samuel, Saul and David.
Course 6: Old Testament Prophets
This course introduces the role and message of the Old Testament prophets. Students explore who the prophets were, why God raised them up, and how their messages addressed covenant faithfulness, judgment, hope, and future restoration. Prophecy is studied within its historical and theological context.
Course 7: Pauline Studies
This course examines the theology and writings of the apostle Paul. Students explore Paul’s understanding of the Gospel, the church, salvation, and Christian living through his major letters. Each epistle is considered in light of its historical situation and theological contribution.
Course 8: New Testament Epistles
This course surveys the general epistles and revelation, emphasizing perseverance, wisdom, faithful living, and the hope of God's coming Kingdom. Students study Hebrews, James, Peter, Johns letters, and revelation as pastoral and theological writings addressed to the early church.
